Juan Sahuquillo
Meet Juan in our Accounts team. Discover more with Journey Latin America.
Hailing from Albacete in Spain, Juan joins us with a wealth of work experience in diverse fields: after working as a Radiologist for several years, he then set up his own family-run jewellery business before making the move to London to study Accounting. While he is yet to visit Latin America, he would love to explore the Galápagos Islands and see its incredible wildlife up-close, and his love of Spanish history puts Mexico and Cuba high up on his bucket list. Juan enjoys various aspects of Latin American culture, including in Argentinean steaks and watching tango – and he will never say no to mojito!
We were very happy to welcome him to our Accounts team.
PersonAL favourites:
Place:
Galapagos islands. Cruising the Galapagos islands for 4-5 days is an amazing experience. Forget about your phone as there is no connection in most of the islands and normal day routine because you are going to experience something unique a once in a lifetime experience. Just you and nature, all the wildlife around you will make you feel like David Attenborough. If you love nature and wildlife this is your place.
Hotel:
San Agustin Monasterio de la Recoleta in Urubamba, Peru. A monastery founded by the Spanish right in the middle of the sacred valley. Stop there for a night in your way to Machu Picchu, you won’t regret it. Peaceful and surrounded by mountains it also offers a very good restaurant service.
Excursion:
Machu Picchu for obvious reasons. Top tip, visit the ruins in the afternoon (less crowded), make night in Aguascalientes and return to Machu Picchu early in the next morning to climb one of its peaks. The views are breathtaking.
If you are going to visit Cusco and the Sacred Valley buy a bottle of Agua Florida. It will really help with the altitude sickness. Pour a little on the palms of your hands, clasp twice and take a deep breath of it.

I am very glad I had good walking boots, hat, sunscreen, swimming shoes, mosquito repellent, memory cards and batteries for the camera and a bottle of water with filter which you can refill at hotels, bars and cafes.
