Walking & Active Holidays
Latin America is made for travelling on foot. Some of its greatest sights only reveal themselves by walking, whether that’s the Inca Trail’s final climb to the Sun Gate or the granite towers of Torres del Paine. A walking and active holiday here gets you off the road and into the landscape, at whatever pace and effort level suits you.
What an active holiday can look like
Walking is just the start. On an active holiday you might trek high Andean passes, cycle down a volcano, paddle a lake in the lake district or ride out across the Patagonian steppe, often several of these in one trip. Routes range from gentle half-day walks to serious multi-day treks at altitude, and we’ll be straight with you about how hard each one is before you commit. The arrangements are ours to arrange, while the walking is yours to enjoy.
Where to go on a walking holiday
Some regions stand out for hikers. Peru has the Inca Trail and quieter routes like the Ausangate and Santa Cruz treks through the high Andes. Patagonia, shared by Chile and Argentina, has the Torres del Paine circuits and the trails around El Chaltén. Ecuador and Bolivia offer volcano climbs and altitude, while Costa Rica keeps it greener and gentler, with cloud forest and rainforest trails. Most trips mix walking with other active days, and we’ll match the effort to your group.
How you’ll travel
We plan your route, book your stays and make sure you know what you’re taking on before you go. On guided treks you’ll have local experts who know the trail and read the weather. The difference between enjoying a trek and enduring one is usually how much time you’ve had to adjust to the altitude, so we bear that in mind, too, when designing your holiday.
