Off the Beaten Track Holidays

Some of the best of Latin America lies well beyond the famous sights. An off-the-beaten-track holiday takes you to the corners other travellers miss, where tourism has barely reached and the landscapes come without the crowds. As one of the first UK operators to the region, back in 1980, we’ve spent decades finding these places.

What off-the-beaten-track travel here means

This is travel with a sense of discovery. It might mean a country most people overlook, a region of a familiar one that few reach, or a route that swaps iconic spots for somewhere quieter. You’ll trade a little comfort and convenience for a lot of reward. Emptier trails, unguarded moments with local people, scenery you’ll have largely to yourself. We’re upfront about what that involves, whether it’s a long drive, a basic guesthouse or a bumpy road, because that’s part of the adventure.

Where to go off the beaten track

Some places are made for it. Guyana and Suriname for rainforest, rivers and wildlife with barely another traveller in sight. Paraguay for a slice of South America almost no one visits. Beyond these, there’s the far north of Peru, the backlands of Brazil, the highlands of Bolivia and the wild south of Colombia, all rewarding detours off the usual circuit. Most trips blend a well-known highlight with somewhere remote, and we’ll build the right balance to suit you.

Planning your trip with us

Getting off the beaten track well takes local knowledge, the right contacts and honest advice about what’s realistic. That’s our home ground. Tell us how far off the map you want to go and we’ll shape a trip that gets you there, with the logistics handled for you.
