Pozo del Cielo Hotel
Pretty, rustic-looking retreat with sloping roofs and traditional adobe walls in a peaceful location surrounded by the beauty of nature.
This pretty retreat has a peaceful location on the edge of the valley’s principal town, Chivay, with views of the Colca river. Close to the canyon itself and secluded from noise and light pollution, Pozo del Cielo is a great base for soaking up the enchantment of the natural environment.
Sloping roofs and a charmingly higgledy-piggledy design give the hotel a rustic look inspired by the character of the region, interspersing local stone with traditional adobe walls painted in earthy ochre tones. Rooms are sparsely furnished but have a distinct Andean charm and views of the river or the beautiful flower-filled gardens. Some also have a small terrace. Heating can be a problem (as is common in the Peruvian highlands in all but the top hotel categories) but cosy blankets are provided for warmth. There is also an attractive dining hall with a log burning stove.
