Los Apus
Small Swiss-run hotel blending pre-Inca stonework with indigenous handicrafts and colonial design elements, including a lovely courtyard and terrace with panoramic views of the city.
The small Swiss-run Los Apus is on an atmospheric street in the artisan district of San Blas, a short distance uphill from the main square. In a style typical of Cusco, it fuses ancient features (including original pre-Inca stonework) with colonial design elements and indigenous artefacts to reflect the varied history and culture of the region.
From the foundations of a 17th century Spanish house, the hotel has been restored to accommodate 20 high-ceilinged guestrooms decorated in simple Andean style. There are two restaurants: one in a colonial-style courtyard bathed in light from the glass roof, and the other on the top floor where a panoramic view of the city unfurls from the rooftop terrace.
