Arenas Beach
Arenas Beach occupies a prime position on a long stretch of white sand on Big Corn Island’s south-west coast. Located around 70km off Nicaragua’s Caribbean coast, Big Corn Island is reached by a one-hour flight from Managua. Covering just four square miles, the island is larger and more developed than neighbouring Little Corn, yet still…
Accommodation is set back slightly from the beach and divided between spacious rooms in the main building and more rustic cabins in the gardens. The bright, airy rooms in the main building are the largest, sleeping up to four guests, while the cabins offer a more traditional Caribbean feel. All accommodation features air conditioning and a private balcony with hammock.
The restaurant overlooks the beach and serves a range of local and international dishes, with fresh seafood and lobster particular highlights. Service can be leisurely at the best of times, reflecting the relaxed rhythm of island life. There’s also a distinctive boat-shaped beach bar, an ideal spot for a sundowner.
Guests can relax beneath thatched palapas or on loungers on the beach, swim in the calm turquoise waters or go snorkelling. Beyond the hotel, you can easily explore the island’s beaches, restaurants and small communities.
