What to expect from your St Lucia holiday

St Lucia is a superb complement to a Guyana itinerary – a fellow former British colony, and one that pairs naturally with its South American neighbour thanks to a direct flight connection that makes it a convenient stopover between the Caribbean and South America.

The island is known for its jagged volcanic peaks, idyllic beaches and rainforest thick with birdlife. Many visitors are happy to spend their whole trip by the sea, but there’s just as much reason to head inland. Hike through St Lucia rainforest to bathe in waterfalls, go looking for the island’s distinctive bird life, or take on the climb up Gros Piton itself.

Beyond the beaches, there’s a wide spread of activity on offer – rainforest hikes, waterfall excursions, wildlife encounters and time in the water, whether that’s snorkelling, scuba diving, or a boat trip to watch whales and dolphins (best June to November) or turtles (March to July). It’s this combination of relaxation and exploration that makes St Lucia beaches and interior alike some of the Caribbean’s most rewarding.
