Yes, you can fly to Canaima (the gateway to the falls) from Caracas. There are also a number of other air routes, including from the beach island of Margarita.

To visit the falls themselves you need to arrange an excursion from Canaima, which we can of course organise for you if you wish. You can visit in one of two ways:

• Fly over the falls in a light aircraft. Not only will you see the falls from every angle, but the views of the surrounding tablelands are almost as impressive as the main attraction as you soar past tepuis (table mountains) and smaller waterfalls cascading from vertical peaks.
• Travel upriver by canoe to the base of the falls, from where you can take a jungle path criss-crossed with huge tree roots up to a viewpoint, or even swim in the plunge pool at the bottom.
