What’s the best value way to see the Galapagos Islands?

The most popular way to see the Galápagos is by cruise. There are a number of different vessel types that range from small mid-range yachts to large upmarket cruise liners. There are usually special offers available which can help if the budget is tight.

The cheapest way to see the Galápagos however is by staying in a hotel on the island of Santa Cruz and taking boat excursions out to the other outlying islands – which is a good option if you are prone to sea sickness. But although staying in a hotel works out cheaper than going on a cruise, you have to bear in mind that you will not get the chance to see the majority of the archipelago as you will need to return to your hotel at the end of each day. Therefore a cruise – although more expensive – is better value, as you will see more islands and more wildlife.
