Peru in January?

You are right: January and February are very wet months to be in Peru. If you are able to travel in April, the weather improves immensely. However, If you are keen to escape the gloomy January weather next year, then Chile would be the ideal destination. The Atacama desert in the north is dry and sunny all year round, and temperatures are tempered by the altitude. Santiago has more of a Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers. The further south you go, the more attractive it is to travel in the southern summer, when daylight hours are long and it is as warm as northern Europe. The scenery in Chile is quite spectacular and in a two/three-week holiday you will have enough time to visit Chile's highlights. We offer a variety of holidays to Chile which include suggested itineraries for individuals or group tours. Depending on how much time you have, you could also extend your holiday to Argentina or Brazil.
