Travel Consulant Jamie Swan tells us about his recent trip to Peru.
Which country did you visit?
Peru
How did you get there?
Direct flight with British Airways on the way there and Iberia via Madrid on the journey back.
Where did you go?
I spent a few days in Lima and Cusco but mainly at the new Explora hotel in the Sacred Valley.
Have you been before?
Yes, this is my second time this year!
If so, any notable differences?
This was a different kind of trip, more trekking and more downtime.
Which was your favourite...
Place: Cusco is always great.
Hotel: Explora in the Sacred Valley. The varied excursions made visiting the areas I've already visited very different.
Excursion: There was a great trek called Amor Violenta (Violent Love) that starts at a weaving coop before trekking to the town and ruins of Chinchero and finally down the valley along an Inca road right back to the hotel.
What was your most memorable moment?
Visiting Machu Picchu will never get boring! Each visit is just as unique as the first.
Is there anything indispensible to pack or prepare for?
A waterproof jacket! The weather can turn very quickly.
Sum up your trip in a sentence?
A great way of exploring a country I know well and making it seem like a new destination.
