How did you get there?
We flew with Latam via São Paulo.
How long was the trip?
We were away for 2 weeks in total.
Where did you go?
Santiago, Puerto Varas and the lake district, plus Torres del Paine National Park and surrounding area.
What was your overall impression of the country?
Having only visited San Pedro de Atacama previously, I was amazed by the incredible diversity of landscapes Chile has to offer. Even Santiago, the capital, is nestled amidst a stunning mountain backdrop.

Have you been before? If so, any notable differences?
Only to San Pedro de Atacama, so this whole trip was new to me.
Which was your favourite…
Place: It was a tough choice, as the scenery was all breathtaking, but I’d have to say that Torres del Paine National Park truly stood out for me.
Hotel: I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Patagonia Camp. The luxury yurts provide an exceptional way to experience the outdoors without sacrificing luxury. The camp also offers a wide range of incredible activities in the area, and the food was outstanding.
Excursion: We did a lot of great excursions on this trip, but I’d have to say the Desolation Pass hike from Puerto Varas was my favourite. You pass through lush forests before reaching a viewpoint with panoramic views of Osorno Volcano and the surrounding lakes.
What were your most memorable moments?
Experiencing a traditional asado with the gauchos at Estancia Cerro Guido. Hiking to the base of the towers & seeing a puma.
Were there any surprises along the way?
I was amazed to see a lone male puma during our conservation excursion at Cerro Guido. Although it was quite far in the distance, seeing this majestic predator was an unforgettable experience.
What tips do you have for travellers wanting to visit the same destinations?
Allow yourself adequate time to visit both Patagonia & the Lake District. There is so much to see and do, it’s a shame to miss out, or feel like you have to rush things.
Is there anything indispensable to pack or prepare for?
Pack lots of light layers if you’re planning on hiking in Chile. The weather in these regions tends to change all the time. And be ready for some serious wind in Patagonia!
Any local snacks, dishes or drinks that should be sampled?
The lamb from the Patagonian asado was possibly the best lamb I’ve ever eaten, so would highly recommend this. Also the Calafate Sour, which is a delicious twist on the classic pisco sour, and not to be missed if you enjoy a cocktail.
Sum up your trip in a sentence?
An unforgettable trip filled with beautiful landscapes, delicious food and memorable experiences.
