Father’s Day Experiences

Dads will be looking forward to the third Sunday of June (16th), when it’s Fathers’ Day! To celebrate, we’ve come up with our Top 5 Fathers’ Day Experiences to treat Dad to some well-earned ‘man fun’!
1. Cigar Factory in Cuba

For dads with a love of history and a taste for cigars, why not treat them to a trip to Cuban capital Havana, home of the world famous Cuban Havana cigar. There are several cigar factories that you can visit as part of a trip with us where you’ll see every stage of production, and, endearingly, hear the lector (reader) employed to keep the workers entertained in a tradition dating back to the 19th Century. As well as of course being able to enjoy them in the cities many authentic bars and cafes. The finest (and hence costliest) brand of cigar is Cohiba, although Partagás and Montecristo are both also very highly regarded. (Be sure to buy from authorised stores and keep your receipt for customs). Those visiting at the end of February will get to enjoy the annual Habano Cigar Festival complete with tastings, workshops and seminars.
2. Jeep Expeditions in Panama

Dads will love this full day open-top 4×4 Jeep expedition in the depths of Panama. At the foot of the mighty Barú volcano, climbing up and down banks, across streams, all the while surrounded by lush rainforest bursting with wildlife. You’ll also visit a Panamanian coffee farm, go on a boat ride across the largest man-made lake in the world, and get to see the giant freighters as they make their way along the world-famous Panama Canal.
3. Lucha Libre Wrestling in Mexico

A little bit on the wacky side, but if dad enjoys boxing, UFC or wrestling, then perhaps he’d enjoy Mexico’s curious ‘Lucha Libre’. Hugely popular with natives, its competitors adored as celebrities, it involves spandex clad masked wrestling characters hurling each other around a ring to cheers from the crowd. Characterised by its colourful masks, rapid sequences of holds and ‘high flying’ manoeuvres (many of which have been adopted by wrestling in the USA), the masks have developed a special significance and matches often involve the loser being forced to permanently remove his mask to great humiliation. Why not treat dad to this bizarre yet enormously fun and authentic experience as part of your trip to Mexico?
4. Wine Tasting in Argentina

If dad likes his wine, then he’ll love a tour of Argentina’s vineyards around Mendoza and Salta, some of the most prestigious in the world. Dotted with both historic and contemporary wineries open to visitors, tours can be made by bike, horse, or in your own car on one of our self-drive holidays. Relax among sunlit vines, enjoy sophisticated food and sample exemplary wines produced in a perfect climate at the foothills of the snow-capped Andean mountains.
5. World Cup Football in Brazil

For dads obsessed with football, what better treat than a visit to Brazil for the FIFA World Cup in 2014? If England is the spiritual home of football, Brazil is definitely its second home and the birthplace of some of its greatest ambassadors. Throw in their world-famous carnival atmosphere and it’s sure to be quite an event. Games will be played in 12 host cities across the country including favourites such as Rio and Salvador, but also others as far inland as Cuiaba and Manaus, giving visitors the opportunity to see more of the beautiful and diverse natural landscape that Brazil has to offer.
