Can I alter the example holiday itineraries?

Absolutely! The holidays on our website and in our brochures have been carefully designed by our travel experts to include the most authentic and exciting experiences each country has to offer, but all our itineraries can be adapted to your specific requirements.

What standard of accommodation is on offer?

From cosy family-run guesthouses, mid-range hotels to exclusive top-end luxury hotels, lodges and resorts, the accommodation options you choose are completely dependent on your own personal preferences and budget. We regularly inspect all the properties we offer to ensure quality of service, comfortable rooms and excellent locations.

Can you book our flights?

Yes we can. We are an ATOL-bonded tour operator, meaning we can book scheduled flights with special discounted fares, provided we also book your land arrangements. Savings on local flights are possible with national airlines using an air pass system, which works out at a far lower cost than that of individual flights.

Am I able to book flights myself?

Yes, you can. However, you will usually find you have to pay for them in full at the time of making your booking whereas if booking through us we will often be able to hold reservations for you that only need to be paid for at the time of your final balance (usually 8 weeks before travel). It also enables our travel experts to keep you abreast of schedule changes on your behalf. Furthermore, in booking a holiday package with us that includes your flights you will benefit from additional holiday protection and peace of mind under the Package Travel Regulations.

When is the best time to visit Central and South America?

Latin America covers a huge area – please refer to the relevant When to Go section of the destination that you are interested in for more details of the best time to visit.

Will my holiday be escorted by a guide?

On our Escorted Group Tours, you’ll be accompanied at all times by one of our award-winning, friendly tour leaders with an exceptional knowledge of the region. On both group and private holidays, excursions will be led by a qualified English-speaking local guide, and wildlife lodges or cruises will provide their own expert guides.

Will my sightseeing tours be private?

This is dependent on the excursion and on your preference. We usually arrange for expert local guides to accompany you on a private basis, but in many areas we can also arrange for you to join a small group with an expert local guide. Some favor the social aspect of shared excursions whilst it can also be a good way to keep costs down. You can also have a mix or private and shared excursions and our travel experts can advise on the best options for you.

Is my money protected?

 You can book with confidence knowing that every penny is secure. We are a fully bonded and licensed tour operator, registered with ATOL, ABTA and AITO.

 When are reservations confirmed?

Once you are happy with the proposed itinerary you will need to send us a completed Booking Form together with the required deposit which is usually £500 per person for tailor-made holidays and £500 per person for our Group Tours. Some accommodations or cruises may request additional deposit payments and we may sometimes recommend pre-paying for some of your flights to secure the best price, but where this is the case we will let you know at the time of your quotation.

Upon receipt of your completed Booking Form and deposit we will proceed with making the reservations for you. Should any services be unavailable for your requested dates we will let you know, and try to make alternative arrangements which would typically involve changing the order of your itinerary or suggesting alternative services of a similar standard and cost.

Once reservations have been confirmed for you we will send you a detailed Confirmed Itinerary and invoice showing when the final balance of your payment is due (usually 8 weeks prior to departure). We will also send you essential pre-departure information, including any health or entry requirements, as well as a log-in  to you own personal Journey Latin America Travel App where all these documents and much more will be accessible offline to help you plan, prepare and get excited about your holiday. As always your own personal travel expert will be on hand throughout right until your depart to answer any questions you may have and to help you with any final preparations.
