If you are a nervous rafter or have children under 10 years of age, you can opt to raft down the gentler waters of the river where the grade does not rise above 1-2.
However, you don't need any previous rafting experience to ride the grade 3-4 rapids above Cusco, typically at an altitude of 3,400m +, and you'll be in the safe hands of specialist instructors. There's a gentle start in order to practice your technique, before stronger torrents begin to get the adrenaline flowing.
