Climb Osorno volcano

chi30-osorno-free-protours

Spend the night on the slope of an active volcano before ascending to its summit for spectacular panoramic views.

Rising from the sapphire shores of Lago Llanquihue, the conical shape of Osorno is an imposing feature of the Los Lagos skyline. At over 2,500m above sea level, it offers a challenging climb up a surface of snow-drenched volcanic rock to reach the icy summit where breathtaking views await.

Although the ascent can be tackled in a day, you'll gain a richer experience by spending a night on the volcano itself at a basic but cosy mountain refuge. From here it's an early start to begin the climb as the first light of dawn brings your rugged surroundings to life.

More and more spectacular views are revealed as the terrain beneath your feet changes from barren rock to snow and glacial ice. The final stretch is steep and challenging and requires crampons and ropes, but you'll be in the safe hands of experienced guides and the panorama from the top is an abundant reward for your efforts.
