Dip into high-altitude thermal pools

chi15-unwind-in-a-hot-spring-free-turismochile

Soak away your cares in a natural Jacuzzi set in a scenic canyon.

The hot thermal pools of Puritama are an unexpected oasis in the midst of the parched Atacama desert. Wooden walkways connect the natural pools, whose clear aquamarine waters bubble and steam with geothermal energy. Little waterfalls ripple in between and the natural Jacuzzi baths are encircled by huge tufts of wild grass, making for a superbly idyllic setting for a soak.

The baths are around 30km outside of San Pedro and at 3,500m above sea level. They can easily be combined with a dawn excursion to the El Tatio geyser field: it's great to warm up in the pools afterwards.
